My plan for today is to run at Sterling Field and then go out to a new hot place. Zoey agrees to come with me, but when it’s time to go, the let me just lay down and take a short nap, turns into her complete abduction by the rack monster, who holds her in his grip in her bottom bunk bed. There is no waking her. I understand. She is just home from college and she is tired. I let her sleep and head down to the track on my own.
I like running at Sterling because the track is very soft
clay, easy on the knees. My goal is to
run ¾ mile without stopping, but halfway around the track, my knee starts
hurting and I get that familiar heaviness in my arms. I make it around once, but to not push it, I
start walking. My plan now is to walk a
lap, then run a lap. But halfway around
I decide to start running and it feels better now. I run a lap and a half, then walk a half and
then finish by running it on in. I do a
mile (3/4s run, ¼ walked).
Time 14:21.60.
19.37 seconds faster than it took me to eat the two-foot turnpike
dawg with all its condiments.
Slow running and slow eating. But, with the HDGaFR (Hot Dog Diet and
Fitness Regime) at my side, I am committed to improve.
When I get home. Rip
Van Zoey is still out cold, wrapped up in childhood blankets.
Instead of going out, I cook us garlic dogs in the evening,
Day 85 with family.
