Great Hot Dogs of Connecticut

I started this blog in 2013 and subtitled it "A father and his daughters set out in search of great Connecticut Hot Dogs." Now 2026 (my daughters grown) I am visiting historic and other CT hot dog places. I am not a food connoisseur (I don't like mustard, relish or ketchup), so I won't be commenting on subtle flavors. The reviews will be about the experience and in most cases will say the hot dogs were great! which is not hard because Connecticut hot dogs are great!

The Dawg House (2014)

This New Britain hot dog joint is on on the Newington line.

They split and grille the hot dogs here and add a meat chili sauce called the Strand Sauce. That's what I had.

Theis place was once used as the setting for a low budget horror movie with the gag being the place's customers kept disappearing. They ended up being ground up and served as hot dogs to keep the business afloat.
